Schotel Macaroni Ingredients

  • 200 gr Macaroni elbow La Fonte
  • 200 ml liquid milk
  • 3 tbsp wheat flour
  • 50 gr grated cheddar cheese
  • Salt, sugar, pepper powder
  • 3 cloves of garlic, puree
  • 1 clove of onion, chopped
  • 250 gr mushroom, cut into small pieces
  • 100 gr minced meat
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • Oil/butter for frying

Sauce (Mix)

  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 3 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce
  • Salt

Toppings

  • Grated cheddar cheese
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Oregano

How to Make Schotel Macaroni

  • 1. Boil the macaroni until cooked (not too mushy). Set aside.
  • 2. Saute garlic & onions until cooked, add minced meat, stir. After the meat changes color, add the mushrooms, stir. Then add flour, stir. Add liquid milk, salt, sugar, pepper powder, stir.
  • 3. Add grated macaroni & cheese, stir. Turn off the fire. Add eggs, mix well. Set aside. Pour into a greased bowl/pan. Flatten.
  • 4. Pour the sauce over the top of the macaroni mixture, smooth. Give grated cheddar & mozzarella cheese, then sprinkle with oregano. Bake/steam until cooked.
