What is Buras Rice?
Buras is one of the traditional foods of Sulawesi which is legendary with its delicious and savory taste. The shape of this free-range food is like lontong but rather flat, wrapped in banana leaves, then tied with a rope and served with coconut milk sauce.

- 450 gr rice
- 800 ml medium coconut milk
- 700 ml of water
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp salt
- Banana leaf

How to make buras
- 1. Bring coconut milk and water to a boil, add bay leaf & salt, then add rice. Stir until the water shrinks then turn off the heat. Set aside.
- 2. Filling: saute ground spices until cooked then add tofu, salt & sugar, stir. Cook until the tofu is half dry (not mushy).
- 3. Take a piece of banana leaf, sprinkle with rice (while pressing it a little so that it is solid), then put the filling on top, knead & roll it, fold the ends. Steam until cooked about 1 hour.
