Tempe & Tofu Bacem

tempe & tofu bacem

Ingredients

  • 1 tempeh board, cut into pieces
  • 10 pieces of tofu
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 segment of galangal, geprek
  • 1 liter of coconut water/plain water
  • Salt to taste
  • Brown sugar to taste
  • 1 tbsp tamarind water
  • Cooking oil

Ground spices

  • 4 cloves of red onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp coriander

How to make

  • 1. Pour coconut water/plain water into a pot/pan, add bay leaf, galangal, salt, brown sugar, ground spices & tamarind water, stir and then turn on the fire. After boiling, add tofu and tempeh. Cook over low heat until the water is reduced and the spices are absorbed.
  • 2. Can be directly fried, or left to stand overnight so that the spices are more pervasive and then fried.
  • Note: use dark brown sugar if you want dark tempe/tofu bacem
