How to make
1. Steam the tempeh for 10 minutes then remove and puree. Add flour and mix until smooth. Shape the tempeh with 2 tablespoons into an oval then fry briefly until slightly brown, remove and set aside.
2. Sambal: heat a frying pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil, then add tomatoes, shrimp paste, onions and chilies, saute until wilted then add seasoning or salt. Stir until fragrant, then remove.
3. Pour the chili mixture with the stir-fried oil in the mortar, add sugar and then grind until smooth. Add tempeh and basil, beat again until everything is evenly mixed.
Sambal tempe is ready to be served with fried Pete and fresh vegetables.
